ADVENT HOPE

This service is for use on Advent Sunday. It uses the letters which spell ADVENT HOPE and by attaching meaning to a word which begins with each of these letters we look back to the Patriarchs and forward to the end of time . The word ADVENT links to the patriarchs, and to the prophets of old who foretold the coming of Jesus, and the word HOPE looks forward to the end of time. The service then recognises that we stand between these two, and, surrounded by the Advent Hope, we welcome Jesus into our hearts and lives again in the present. We place a picture of the manger between the two words to reinforce the realisation that there is an aspect of Advent which is about past, present and future.
